Racing a straight line distance of 1 138km from salzburg to monaco 32 world class athletes from 20 countries including 2 women and 30 men will hike and fly via record breaking 13 turnpoints in 6 different countries including austria germany italy switzerland france and last but not least monaco. The new route has been revealed for the 2019 red bull x alps which will be the most challenging in the event s 16 year history.
A true challenge for only the most hardy paragliding pilots with a taste for endurance sports the red bull x alps takes competitors from salzburg austria to monaco and the only way to move is hiking or paraglider flight. The 2015 route has ten turnpoints and a straight line distance of 1 038 km and is more challenging tactically than the 2013 race due to it having less obvious flight paths. Red bull x alps is back for its tenth edition in 2021. We deliberately chose a 3 line concept for the x alps4 which in our view is currently the best symbiosis of high performance low weight and ease of use.
